When Cisco Cloud Observability is set up, the Observe page displays the overview of your full stack and features the following components:

  • Domains in the UIcallout 1—the components in your stack.
  • Filterscallout 2—options for refining your view.
  • Healthcallout 3—color-coded health status.
  • Feedbackcallout 4—link to provide helpful comments and opinions.

From the left navigation bar, click Observe to display a drop-down menu that can include the following:

  • All Entities
  • Application Performance
  • Container
  • Orchestration

Click All Entities to view all entities. To navigate to a specific entity page, click that particular entity's name > View Page. Click on a health status to navigate to the list view (doing so will show entity's for that particular health status only). You can also search for a specific entity by typing in the name in the search bar. For example, type *test to search for any entity that has the keyword "test" a part of the name:

Observe UI Elements

Cisco Cloud Observability incorporates several UI functions.

Navigation ToolIconDescription
Navigation path

A hyperlinked navigation map that indicates the path you took to get where you are in the application. As you navigate Cisco Cloud Observability, each click is appended to the navigation path. To return to a previously viewed page, click the corresponding link in the navigation path or click the back arrow in your browser.

In a multiple-entity view, the path is appended until you click an entity. When you switch to a single-entity detail view, the navigation path is replaced with a link to the entity in focus. The navigation path continues to build again until you select a multiple-entity view by, for example, clicking Services.

Refresh

Refresh Icon

Reloads data to display the most current view for a selected time range.

Auto Refresh

Reloads data to display the most current view atomically every 30s, 1m, 5m, or 15m.

Time Ranges

TimeRange Icon

Enables you to select a different time range to apply to your displayed data. If no data displays, edit the time range selection. Select from Default or Recently Used time ranges, or create a Custom time range to broaden or narrow down the data displayed. Default time ranges are predefined options that span time ranges from minutes to Last Year. Recently Used time rages are ranges that you previously used that are date and time stamped ( only saves up to the last 5 time range selections). Custom enables you to set parameters for a different time range.

Select a Default time range:

  1. Click TimeRange Icon or anywhere on the time range selector to access the time range selector.
  2. Under the Default heading, click the time range for which you would like to search and display your data.

Data that matches the time range you selected displays.

Select a Recently Used time range:

  1. Click TimeRange Icon or anywhere on the time range selector to access the time range selector.
  2. Under the Recently Used heading, click the recently used time range for which you would like to search and display your data.

Data that matches the time range you selected displays.

Create a Custom time range:

  1. Click TimeRange Icon or anywhere on the time range selector to access the time range selector.
  2. Under the Custom heading, select Relative or Absolute. Relative allows you to select a value for how many minutes, hours, days, or weeks ago you want the time range to expand. Absolute allows you to select an exact date and time. If you click TimeRange Icon a calendar and time list will populate for you to customize the date and time. Alternately, you can type in the absolute date and time you desire.
  3. Click Apply time range to narrow down the list of entities to match your selected time range. Custom time ranges will be saved under Recently Used.

Data that matches the time range you selected displays.

Share

Enables you to share the current page (data) that you're viewing. The Group View, Filter View, and time range values remain the same when shared. For example, if you share the URL with a time range of Last 6 Hours, another user will see the same data you were viewing at the time you created the Share link. In other words, if you have a relative time range applied, the share link will convert it to an absolute time range so that the user who received the link will view the data for that exact time range. To use the URL you must be logged into Cisco Cloud Observability
